Sensex falls in early trade MAR 05
Indian markets dropped in early trade on Monday erasing earlier gains. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a decline of 38.57 points or 0.22% at 17,598.42, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 16.85 points or 0.31%, at 5,342.55.

At 09.21 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 132.53 points or 0.75% at 17,504.46 with 26 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 47.80 points or 0.89% at 5,311.60 with 44 components falling. 

Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed fall of 27.32 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Larsen & Toubro (19.35 points), State Bank Of India (18.43 points), Reliance Industries (13.28 points) and H D F C Bank (8.71 points).

However, Bharti Airtel contributed rise of 3.68 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Infrastructure (1.24 points), Maruti Suzuki India (0.59 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.38 points) and Tata Power Company (0.29 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (0.69%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.27%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.14%), and Tata Power Company (0.13%).
On the other hand, Jindal Steel & Power (2.68%), State Bank Of India (2.48%), Larsen & Toubro (2.21%), I C I C I Bank (2.16%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.98%), and Hindalco Industries (1.93%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.01% and 0.03% respectively.

The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Alfa-Laval (India) (1.34%), Amtek Auto (1.23%), Anant Raj Industries (1.02%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.62%) and A B G Shipyard (0.05%).

The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were INEOS ABS (India) (3.31%), Asahi India Glass (2.91%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.09%), Ajanta Pharma (0.76%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.55%).

Sectors in Limelight
The Capital Goods index was at 10,241.96, down by 59.23 points or by 0.57%. The major losers were A I A Engineering (2.08%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.98%), A B B (1.27%), Alstom Projects India (0.5%) and Crompton Greaves (0.07%).
The Bankex index was at 11,971.50, down by 50.58 points or by 0.42%. The major losers were Canara Bank(1.83%), Bank Of India (1.3%), Bank Of Baroda (0.85%), Federal Bank (0.78%) and H D F C Bank (0.75%).
The Metal index was at 11,921.82, down by 47.44 points or by 0.4%. The major losers were Jindal Steel & Power (2.68%), Hindalco Industries (1.93%), JSW Steel (1.11%), Coal India (0.51%) and Hindustan Zinc (0.25%).
On the other hand, the Oil & Gas index was at 8,621.60, up by 13.61 points or by 0.16%. The major gainers were Indian Oil Corporation (0.49%), Oil India (0.26%) and Cairn India (0.13%).

Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 378 advances against 498 declines.

Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 83.17 million. It was followed by Reliance Power (Rs. 68.19 million), Vikas Wsp (Rs. 49.65 million) and Reliance Capital (Rs. 35.56 million).
The volume chart was led by Vikas Wsp with trades of over 1.28 million shares. It was followed by Prraneta Industries (0.68 million), Reliance Power (0.52 million) and Suzlon Energy (0.40 million).
